I was getting used to a feeling of surprise instead of the usual daily routine of household activities. This was more interesting than supervising Lynette and keeping her up to the mark, or dealing with the tradepeople who came to the house.
Lynette said she enjoyed having the extra cats staying, even though the house was crowded. But it gave her a break when we went out. A feline bus picked us up to transport cats from Adelaide to the training camp in the Adelaide Hills. I hadn’t known such a place existed, and I was surprised at the number of cats attending. The others all knew Freya from her regular worldwide appearances on the feline TV channel and the Zoom meetings she held for international leaders.
The leaders from SA were also pleased to welcome Otto from Queensland. Otto is the black cat who was staying with us. He is a real live wire.
For the leaders, there is an initial meeting to plan. I was lucky to be invited as a guest.
After the meeting and a short nap, the physical training started. We would be interspersing the physical training sessions with discussion groups, planning groups, seminars and the usual naps and food fests. Hopefully, the naps and food will be plentiful.
We soon got into the swing of things, although I was a little hesitant about some of them. At home, I could leap to the top of the kitchen door, pirouette and then leap to the top of the kitchen cupboards. As a kitten, I had leapt from my raised walkway onto the beach umbrella and then to the ground. So, I had always kept myself fit with gymnastics and the usual games and puzzles. Although puzzling how to control my human was always the most difficult.
The adrenaline pumped, and it was soon time for some moonlight yowling and then retire to our tents for rest, ready to sleep the night away and prepare for the next day’s activities.
