I was nervous we would run into Bruno, but he was extremely pleasant, as if he had forgotten the previous incident in which I’d beaten him at poker. He was keen to help us get transport home and offered passage on his cruise liner under certain conditions. Nothing is completely above board with Bruno, and I am always wary.

I spoke to the others, and they had a few questions. Later that evening, at another function. Bruno said the cruise was leaving the next morning, which would be too early for us, as the kittens have a performance coming up and Otto and Sandy are also featured at one of the Cats’ Collective clubs tomorrow.
After that, Bruno spoke to me again and said I might be interested in joining another of his vessels, the cruise liner Cataloupe 3, which was leaving next week. He could offer us a special deal on that ship because there had been cancellations from both passengers and staff. So we still had time to consider. Bruno was particularly interested in booking Saphira and the kittens to perform one of their ballets for his elite audience.
Bruno said, ‘We’re quite short-staffed this trip. Mitzi and Sasha could help us run the ship. You guys are all such good company, and I’m sure you’re capable of anything we could throw at you.’
These are expensive cruises and far out of my reach. Bruno chuckled and said I could play a few poker games with him on board, giving him a chance to win. I would need to be careful and not overcommit myself.
