The management agreed that it was vital that the kittens on board learn to swim. They were particularly concerned after Mitzi had to rescue a kitten at the Yacht Club’s exclusive swimming pool. Kittens had been allowed in that area as long as they were supervised by their parents or one of the kitten nannies on board, but Candy was extremely upset. Her kitten had suffered shock after the accident and was receiving counselling to prevent her from developing post-traumatic stress disorder.
Fortunately, Mitzi’s quick rescue and the devoted attention the kitten received had mitigated the trauma. Candy was sure someone had pushed Amber Leaf, but the cameras weren’t pointed in that direction, and nothing could be proved. You can see Candy in the blue sundress in the picture below. She had decided to stay well back from the pool so her kitten would concentrate solely on the lessons.
Mitzi and Saphira begin the training sessions early this morning. The first kittens in the water are the tiny ones, among them little Amber Leaf. She was hesitant at first. Mitzi was worried that she might be afraid of the water after nearly drowning. Candy was very pleased to see one of her kittens taking the first paddling strokes.
