Mitzi has organised a ‘Hunt the Egg’ event as part of her duties as activities specialist. She is glad her friend Saphira has agreed to help her, and Sasha has also said he will help, although he regards himself more as the ideas cat than one who favours spending substantial amounts of time trying to shepherd kittens around and possibly rescue them when they dart off and get lost.
The cats have become used to their human companions celebrating Easter, and all the kittens look forward to this yearly event with great excitement. Kittens are not permitted to eat chocolate, as human children are. But eggs can be a special treat if they are well-cooked and the shells ground up so kittens cannot choke on them. That is a note for any pawparents that may be reading. (from Sasha)
Some kittens have pawparents who make special egg meals for them to celebrate while the human children hunt for their chocolate eggs. We note that chocolate eggs are also a special treat for human children and not recommended for everyday consumption.

As you can see, I took charge of security. Mitzi wasn’t as concerned as me about kittens vanishing in such a lively activity, but imagine if a kitten fell overboard! I stationed crew and parents above and throughout the playground area, which had been set up specifically for this event. Mitzi found plenty of helpers among the crew, which left Saphira and her free to supervise. The deck was crowded with kittens, as passengers from all over the liner were invited to attend.
But when this highly successful event had concluded, there was still a little worry that some kitten might still be lurking. Not all the parents had attended, and although we had recorded every kitten as they arrived and checked them as they left, there was still a need for assurance that everything was in order. And yes, a few stray kittens were still playing around.

Believe it or not, after all my preparations for security, some kittens had managed to elude us and get onto an open part of the ship and carry eggs with them.

Some of the kittens were even playing the human game of blind man’s buff, which any cat knows is dangerous on a ship where a blindfolded kitten can fall overboard. Mitzi will now see that my concerns are not unfounded. Fortunately, the diligent pair rounded up all the kittens and gathered most of the stray eggs. Some eggs ended up as splotches on the deck, but the crew were good-spirited about this and quickly cleaned up any mess. They had enjoyed the event so much that the whole evening in the crew areas was full of laughter.
All the parents seemed very happy with Mitzi’s organisation and said the kittens loved the well-cooked eggs coated in eggshell batter.
‘This was so thoughtful of Cataloupe 3,’ said a letter from a large community group. Bruno read it out to me. ‘We appreciated the care spent on providing delicious and healthy treats for our offspring. We will recommend Cataloupe 3 to all our friends!’
‘You are doing a great job, Sasha,’ said Bruno. I thought he was going to purr, but he poured himself a catnip whisky instead and offered me a soda, as I have now convinced him I do not drink alcohol. He doesn’t like that much, but he will have to put up with it.
