Otto tells me he has a passion for sailing. He is an active cat and so athletic that this doesn’t surprise me. He took part in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race one previous year and is part of the crew once again of the totally cat owned and crewed Catastrophe.
He sent me some videos of their entries in former years.

So far the cats haven’t won the race for their category, but they are ever hopeful. They have sailed different yachts over the years, including one large vessel. They use the same name on the boat every time with a few variations.
I haven’t watched the Sydney to Hobart for years and was surprised there were so many black sails now. Otto explained that it is the latest trend to have carbon fibre sails that are very durable.
I promised I would try to get to Sydney to see him off on the trip. It would be exciting to see all the yachts sailing off from the harbour. Mitzi had planned to join me for the new year in Sydney and she is bringing another friend from her Cats for the Environment organization.
